Ø  At blood bank/ camp first of all a registration form is filled for blood donation

Ø  Normally it takes 9-10 minutes to fill the registration form. It includes identification data of blood donor and health history and consent to donate blood.

Ø  Next step is physical examination by a medical officer. At this step basic tests such as blood grouping and hemoglobin are done and vitals are checked, health history is taken and eligibility to donate blood is ensured.

Ø  Actual blood donation process takes only 6- 8 minutes. A phlebotomist inserts needle into a vein and 350-400 ml blood is collected in a bag.
